A Moderator or "Mod" is the person in control of the Chatroom #PhotoThumb when there are no Founders or Operators present. Mods also answer questions and have the authority to promote, kick and ban. We are not disclosing how many positions are available at this time. Operators are chosen by the Founders, They have the final authority over the chat room when a Founder is absent or idle.

Commenting on, or noting a Staff members personal account with your complaint will be ignored, and may be considered harassment. Be considerate with your language, and don't be an annoyance to others. PhotoThumb staff reserve the right to kick or possibly ban any parties involved in heated arguments and discussion. While rules may not be technically broken by the participating members at the time, it is detrimental to the flow of the room to allow such altercations to continue. Therefore, it is within any staff member's power to hold those responsible for not controlling their opinions, behaviors, and tempers.



Limit the use of profanity. Racist Slurs, anti-Semitic or other derogatory remarks about philosophies and religions, as well as highly offensive and hostile remarks based on gender or sexual preference will result in a kick and/or ban from #PhotoThumb.



Threatening, directly insulting, or harassing your fellow chatters is prohibited and can result in an immediate ban from the chatroom.



Do not ask A/S/L or any variations of this. Such as, "How old is everyone?"



Please do not ask for comments, pageviews, favorites or full-views in #PhotoThumb. Generally, if you are sharing a thumb, you are already asking for such and asking is redundant. Not only this, it adds unnecessary clutter.



If you were banned, do not create multiple accounts and/or come in on your other existing accounts. You cannot avoid a ban. If you are caught doing so, you will be banned on all accounts, and the ban will be lengthened or made permanent.



Thumbshare is English only. Please refrain from speaking in other languages. This rule has been enacted to make moderation possible in all instances, as staff obviously cannot moderate a language they cannot understand.



DO NOT ask to be promoted. Any requests to be promoted to Members, Seniors, Staff or Operators will be ignored and could result in a ban. Asking will only ensure you will never be promoted.

Avoid excessive shouting (use of all-caps), excessive word streeeeeeeetching or flooding (continuous posting of repetitive text) in



Flooding is defined as any rapid or high-volume posting. This includes but is not limited to thumbnails, or text.



Do not use #PhotoThumb to advertise your chatroom, community or website without the permission of a #PhotoThumb Founder.



Do not post the same thumb repeatedly over a short period of time or post one thumb repeatedly in a line. It is unfair for the other guests/members in the room.



Members are allowed five thumbs per line. Every five minutes.



Guests are allowed three thumbs per line. Every five minutes.



Do not use the multiline input while posting thumbs, post them in just one line.



Do not name spam. When posting a message to more than a couple people leave out usernames. This prevents postspam of away messages.



Do not post an excessive amount of emoticons in one line, or repeatedly post emoticons line after line. "Emote spamming" slows down the room considerably.



Large emotes such as the llama emote are considerd equal to a thumb. More than one or two of the same large emote in a line is considered spam.



The llama emote may be posted only once every five minues, reguardless of who post it.



Note: The Operators and Staff will use their discretion in the above category of Spamming.*


Do not post thumbnails or links which contain:


Pornographic or nude deviations as defined by deviantART's Submission Agreement (deviations marked as mature and deviations in the artistic nude category excluded; however, pornographic images uploaded as deviations are not).


Links which may contain viruses.

Links to pronographic images or text.

Links to add +devwatch or +favorite (example: my. deviantart.com/deviants/add/Thumbshare or www. deviantart.com/favourite/#######/)

Links to websites with racist/hateful content (websites that promote Racism or other derogatory propoganda about philosophies, religions and/or sexual prefrence.)

Q: What is #PhotoThumb?
A: #PhotoThumb is a dAmn chat where deviants come to socialize and share their photography. It is a place where mainly photographers can come and pool their collective minds and talents. Photographers can unite in celebrating their freedom, expression, voice, and wisdom. #PhotoThumb is about comfort, inspiration, and growth. Visitors to PhotoThumb can enter expecting encouragement, constructive criticism, humor, fellowship, and advice. Come to get inspired, stay to inspire others.


Q: My thumbnail isn't showing up, it appears as a grey box or says "[deviation: -title-]".
A: This is a problem that occurs with some deviations. The deviantART staff know about this problem and are looking into it. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.


Q: What is a "Member" and how do i become one?
A: Currently the difference between "Guests" and "Members" is the number of thumbnails and emoticons allowed per line. To become a member the following must be true:

1. You have come into #PhotoThumb often and contribute, whether with thumbnails or conversation.
2. You know our channel Rules and abide by them.
3. You represent the channel well and offer help to other users.
4. For promotion to be considered, you need to add ~PhotoThumb to your devWatch.

Promotion is not instant. Please do not ask, hint or beg for a promotion.


Q: Must I add ~PhotoThumb to my watch if i want to be a member?
A: No, you will become a member by being promoted by our Staff.


Q: How do I become an "Operator" or "Moderator"?
A: We will ask you. "Operators have full authority to take control of the chat room. Moderators are like Operators but they can only promote the level of "Member" and do not unless otherwise specified have access to edit this community.


Q: What is a "Senior" and how do i become one?
A: Seniors are long time members of #PhotoThumb that have shown consistent good conduct and a healthy spirited attitude. "Seniors" are NOT #PhotoThumb staff. The first rule of being promoted to the Seniors level is not asking to be promoted to Seniors.


Q: I was banned, when will it be removed and who do i contact for help?
A: If you were banned from the #PhotoThumb channel, then only the Operator, Moderator or Founder who set the ban can remove it. If you have any questions or concerns, please send them in a note to ~PhotoThumb and not to the staff members personal accounts. Refer to the Rules for more information.
